Physical and Virtual Servers

In this video, the author discusses the differences between physical and virtual servers. Physical servers are owned upfront and require the management of hardware repairs or replacements. They have a fixed capacity that needs to be fully utilized for maximum value. On the other hand, virtual servers, running on a host with a hypervisor, allow for the efficient utilization of hardware resources. Virtual machines are isolated and can be easily moved or resized without impacting others. However, they may result in resource wastage due to duplication of operating systems. Containers offer a solution to this problem, which will be discussed in a future video.
